I love mokume gane rings. 'Mokume gane' means wood grain metal. Various layers of metal are fused together using high pressure and heat. The resulting metal is then carved and twisted to create some very interesting designs.
Once the metal is patterned, it can be made into rings, bracelets, earrings.....etc.
One of my favorite artiste is Steve Midgett (http://www.mokume.com) . Some of his rings are beautiful.
